Personal Locator Beacons: A good safety tool, but not a substitute for skill, knowledge

Sunday’s Sound Life section will feature Personal Locator Beacons.


PLBs send a distress signal and GPS coordinates to rescuers when activated and should not be confused with avalanche beacons.
